Because their new surroundings won’t immediately seem like home to them, help them make this transition by showing them the new house. When they recognize that their new house is their new home, they can better deal with the fact that they are saying goodbye to their old home.

You can also take some time and take them someplace special, just as a treat. This helps them get over the fact and cope with moving out of their old home and moving into a new one.

Your real estate agent can become a fixture in you household, especially leading up to the move or the sale of your old house. If your child sees this person, they may interpret this as change or at least an unwelcome one. Create a positive environment where your listing agent can be introduced to your family as a whole. This way you can prevent any negative lashing out or acting out whenever your agent is visiting or coming to drop off news or paperwork.
