How do you know when you need a new roof?
North Texas Real Estate Tips
Every home deserves a solid roof to keep your family safe and protected. Having a damaged roof can lead to a wide variety of issues, including loss of heat throughout your home, water leakage, moldy walls and even health hazards for you and your loved ones. When it comes to roofing issues, it is much better to stay on the lookout and check for marks of wear and tear frequently: don’t allow small problems to become huge issues!
Read on to learn more about some of the tell-tale signs you need a new roof and don’t let it catch you off-guard!
Curled or missing shingles.
If you noticed that your shingles are curling, this means that your roof is showing signs of weathering, and it might become prone to leaking. You should consider inspecting your roof as soon as possible and assess the situation. In some instances, you may notice that you are missing shingles here and there. While it might be a pain aesthetically, replacing shingles is not hard or too expensive. The main problem here is a visual one, as newer shingles will look different from the old one…they didn’t have all those years of weathering to dull them down!
Holes and Cracks.
One thing is for sure: if you can see sunlight filtering down from your roof and water dripping down on a rainy day…you know it’s not a good thing! If you experience a similar situation, you should seek help immediately: water damage, in particular, could generate costly damages, if not tackled very early on!
After several years, some roofs might suffer from structural issues and might feel as if they were sagging. This situation could morph into something potentially dangerous, so make sure you get a professional to inspect it as soon as you notice something wrong…better safe than sorry!
